OSAT Here We Go Blog Hop

Welcome to the Corner of Plaid and Paisley where I am participating in the OSAT Blog hop.

The theme this month is Here We Go- Vacation, back to school, new home . . .

I made this card with my husband in mind since we are going on a cruise soon to celebrate our 40th anniversary!   I used a combination of several stamp sets to make this card.    It includes the wonderful sun and waves image from the Circle Sayings stamp set, the pelican from the Waves of Inspiration stamp set, and the Adventure compass image from the He's All That stamp set.

I love mixing and matching pieces from different stamp sets that make sense together to make something a little different.  Since one of the challenges of these hops is that everything we use has to be current, I had to be creative with dies as well.  I used the All That Dies, The Waves Dies and believe it or not - the Crafting with You Dies for the stitched circle.  Now I realize that it can be quite expensive to purchase all of these dies - but what I have found is that I can usually find a die that will work in some other set that I already have.  So I mix and match as much as I can to get even more use out of the sets I do own.

The base is Balmy Blue and the stripe DSP is from the Let's Go Fishing DSP pack.  I took a piece of Pebbled Path and ran it through the Timber 3D embossing folder and then used my Blending Brush and White Craft Stampin' Ink to give the background a kind of wood weathered look.

I used the Taylor Made Tags Dies for my bookmark and used the same technique for the top layer of the bookmark.  A plain ribbon tie didn't seem right for this more masculine design so I took the Balmy Blue and White Double stitched ribbon and deconstructed it.  I tore off the blue ribbon down the middle by snipping the clear thread and then cut the white piece down the middle and frayed it some.  I also added two strands of Grey Granite Baker's Twine to give it a little more volume.

Let's see what the other card makers have created!!

In the past few years my interests have grown from fabric to paper and now to dishes too! I just love prints, polkadots, plaids and paisleys- hence the blog name.
