Country Floral Lane - Stamping INKspirations Blog Hop- Sketch Challenge

Welcome to Corner of Plaid and Paisley where I am participating in the Stamping INKspirations Blog Hop Sketch Challenge today!

The title of my post is a little off - because I was originally going to use the Country Floral Lane DSP with this card - but when I went back and read the instructions to the Sketch Challenge - we were to add a bit of bling!!  So I switched paper and used the Textured Chic paper with the Country Bouquet Bundle to meet the criteria of this month's challenge.

Valentine - Stampin Dreams Blog Hop

Welcome to our Stampin' Dreams Valentine Blog Hop!
We are all showing off our cards that will bring a little dose of love to someone special.
I am Ann, from the Untied States, and I chose to share the cards I made for my grandson and my grand niece for this valentine hop.
I used a variety of different stamps and dies to complete these two cards.
I will start with the cute Koala.
Since this is for my 3 yr old grandson I thought a pop out card would be fun.
There is a little bit of everything here - Country Club DSP, Heart Punches, several different sentiments from different sets and Bonanza Buddies Bundle for those adorable Koalas.

I used a variety of small hearts on the inside, these are from the Dog Builder punch and the Trio of Tags dies from the Holiday Catalog, but there are hearts in many different sets you can use.

For a Very Special Someone sentiment is from the Special Someone (with the Raccoon) and the And This Grandma Sure Loves You - is from Grandma's House (Annual Catalog) and Grandson on the front of the card is from Family Party stamp set.

Here is the measurements to make this pop out feature.  You may want to design the outside of the card first because there is some bulk to this pop out once you have it completed.

  • The cards is a basic A2 card - in Grey Granite Cardstock - 5 1/2 X 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" and folded in half  -so that your card will measure 4 1/4" X 5 1/2"
  • The inside is Whisper White cardstock 5' X 8" scored down the center at 4" - adhere that to your card base,
  • Cut a strip of DSP that measures 1 1/2"  X 8 1/2" and score at 2 1/8", 4 1/4" and 6 3/8"  - I would use DSP and not card stock - cardstock is almost too heavy and bulky for this strip.
  • Fold your DSP strip in half and then fold the other two flaps back - making an accordion fold - and this becomes your pop out strip.  Adhere the back side of the two ends to the opposite edges of your white cardstock.  Once this is adhered  fold your card in half, lining up the edges and run your bone folder over the whole card to get that pop out piece to lay nice and flat.
  • Now the fun part!  you can open your card back up and adhere the pieces you want to pop out when you open the card.
💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟

The unicorn card is another  Valentine card I made with that same pop out feature for my Grandniece.  In a recent conversation with her -I found out she loves to get mail and she loves unicorns - so my mind went immediately to the Leave a Little Sparkle stamp set.
I had a hard time photographing this card between the shine off that beautiful foil from the From My Heart Specialty Designer Series Paper and the glare from the Window Sheet over the unicorn to make the shaker - so I apologize that the unicorn looks so washed out.

This card has a mixture of dies used - that include Stitched Be Mine, Layering Circles, Stitched Rectangles and the Stiched So Sweetly Dies.

I used the From My Heart Faceted Gems in the Shaker and used my Flirty Flamingo Stampin Blends to color the Whisper White 1/4" Crinkled seam binding Ribbon.
Inside I used the Heartfelt Bundle, more of the DSP, the Stiched Be Mine dies and the Dog Builder punch for those small hearts.
💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟

I hope you get a chance to look at all of the wonderful Valentine's Day Cards that our hop group have put together!  There is a little bit of love being spread all over the world here!!!

Valentine Tablescape

Valentine's Day is a great day to tell the people who are something special in your life just that-
That they are special!

I am participating in Chloe Crabtree's Valentine Tablescape Blog Hop with this post.
For those of you who have joined us in the past - we used to do a week long hop.  We have changed things up a bit and all of the blogs will be listed at the same time and you can browse all you want through the links that are listed near the bottom of this post.

I am dedicating my Valentine's table to the three ladies that mean the most to me:
My sister, my daughter and my daughter-in-law.
We try to get together several times a year to do some family traditions together such as make apple sauce and bake cookies together.  When we get together, there is a lot of chatter and much laughing!!
So I wanted to set a fun, cheerful table for these ladies who brighten my life.
We are more of a casual group, not too high maintenance! So no tablecloth and a more relaxed setting.
I added a little purse at each place setting that is toting some dark chocolates!
These adorable little purses were made with Stampin' Up! All Dressed Up Dies
I also stamped out some hearts and added some ribbon to my basic white napkin rings to dress them up with a bit more love.
I used faux tulip pots on the table - roses just seemed to formal - these just looked like more fun.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Speaking of fun!  Here are the links to all of the wonderful, talented ladies who are participating in the Valentine Tablescape Hop.  There is tons of inspiration and beautiful images to take in, better than looking at the magazines while standing in line at the grocery store!! So please check out the other blogger's fabulous tables:

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I made some punch heart garlands and added them to my mantle decor along with some mini topiaries.
I hope you enjoyed my table and that
you are able to spread some love to those who are special to you this

Valentine's Day Tablescape

I should be a pro at this Valentine's Day stuff with all of the Hallmark movies I have watched over the last few month, but I always find this holiday a kind of difficult one to decorate for. Maybe because I feel it is a bit limited - how much can you do with red hearts?!   or maybe get real daring and use  pink hearts? or double dog daring and use XOXOXO's?  But I threw caution to the wind and this is as daring as I get!
I am happy to be part of the Valentine's Day Tablescape Blog Hop that Chloe Crabtree, from Celebrate and Decorate, has put together.  There will be 24 different talented table stylists showing off their Valentine tables just for you to enjoy.  Check back each day, as I will be updating the links at the bottom of the post all week long.

So, for my table I added some brown to the mix of red and pink!!  And that isn't all that daring when you consider that chocolate is brown and that is one of the most popular things about Valentine's day!
My inspiration was the floral paper that you see on the hearts, it is a beautiful mix of a dark khaki, pink, red and sea foam green.  I tried to mix the sea foam green in somehow with my dishes, but trust me - it looked horrible!
I used several sheets of my favorite Valentine paper from Stampin' Up! to create an embroidery hoop collage above my mantel and then moved that color scheme onto my table.
The hardest part about putting together this table is that we were in a polar vortex this past week with temperatures in the negative degrees, and wind chill factors making the plunge unbearable.  So I was not about to go out and go shopping for anything new.  I had to make due with what I had.
I wrapped some old red Christmas candles with khaki colored paper cut with a heart die cut and placed them in a wood tray I had - along with some white wood heart ornaments for a simple centerpiece.
The wood hearts were Christmas tree ornaments, after adding the paper to the middle and that beautiful soft variegated ribbon to the wood hearts it looked much more appropriate for Valentine's Day.  I was going to make some cute little chocolate favors, but again, I didn't have any at the house and I wasn't really thrilled at going out in -25 degrees to get some chocolate.  Worse yet, I would just eat it because I never left the house for three days and I didn't need to do that.  So I opted for the little hearts on the easels instead of candy,  much easier on the hips!
Below are all the links to the wonderful Valentine inspiration for you to enjoy this week.
Check out each blog, I bet someone came up with a fabulous out of the box Valentine Table that is surely drool worthy!

Stampin' Up! Meant to Be -Not just for Valentines!

It is always nice to spread some love.  It is easy to do with the new Meant to Be bundle from the new Stampin' Up! 2019 Occasions Catalog.
And just because this is considered a Valentine's day set, It can be used for many other cards such as Mother's Day, Miss You  or Wedding Cards.  I have also used it for a Thank you card here.
Since this is a new bundle, you save 10% by purchasing the Meant to Be stamp set and the Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies together.  On all of these cards I used black ink and cardstock.  I did however use several other sentiments other than 6 sentiments it comes with just to give you some ideas on how to expand this set even more.

💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Let's make the Thanks card!
The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card stock cut to 5 1/2" X 8 1/2", scored down the middle at
4 1/4" , folded in half to make a basic A2 card.  I cut a rectangle piece of Whisper White  5 1/4" x 4" and ran it through my Big Shot using the Pinewood Planks embossing folder giving that a nice wood texture look.
Next I took my black ink and stamped out three out of the 6 heart stamps that comes with this set on Crumb Cake cardstock. Then matched them up with the framlits that fit the hearts I chose and ran them through the Big Shot to cut the hearts out.   TIP: I use washi tape to line my dies up with the stamped images and run them through my Big Shot. I personally don't like using the magnetic plate with the dies - I have don't like the way the dies jump around a bit with the magnetic force!!  I would rather just use the washi tape - it sticks just enough to hold it in place but not ruin you piece when you remove the tape.
Lastly I cut the Thanks word out with the Well Written Framlits Dies (also found in the new 2019 Occasions Catalog) from Blushing Bride Cardstock, .  I applied the hearts and the word Thanks with Tombow liquid glue.

Very Simple!

💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟

On the You're the Best (sentiment from the Label Me Pretty stamp set) card I used dimensionals to pop out some of the hearts, that would be an option you could do on this card as well.  I also want to point out that there are a lot of framelits in the Be Mine Stitched Framelit Dies set.  I only used a few on these cards.  Check out how many come with it here!

💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

Romantic Valentine's Day Table for Two

Love is in the Air! And my husband is out of town!
Wait, that didn't sound right!!
Well, with Valentine's Day coming up and my husband out of town, it was perfect timing to move a small table into the living area and create a beautiful, romantic table for two in front of the fireplace.
The reason why I said it was good timing with my husband gone - was because I set up most of this on Super Bowl Sunday - in the room where he would be watching the big game - not the usual game time activity!
I am excited to be part of the Romantic Tablescape Blog Hop, hosted by the creative Chloe Crabtree from Celebrate and Decorate.  There are 24 bloggers sharing their Valentine's inspiration for some very romantic table settings.
I hope you will enjoy browsing through all the links listed at the end of my post.

Hopefully we can enjoy a nice dinner at this table when he gets back, which will be before Valentine's Day.
While it is romantic by the fire, its also difficult to photograph!
So most of the photos here are during the day in the sunlight.
I loved the way these strings of hearts casted heart shaped shadows against the fireplace from the very bright snowy daylight streaming through the patio doors.
This table topper has been in my closet for a number of years.  I bought it and a spool of ribbon that matched it in an after Christmas sale one year for a steal.
I made the napkin ring bows from the ribbon, used Dollar Tree votive holders and scattered some hearts I cut out of some sparkly paper to add some romantic touches to the table.
Embroidery hoops painted gold and embellished with some tiny roses and greenery make for an inexpensive way to decorate above the mantel. Simple candle sticks and a sign that says  "I Still Fall for You Every Day" that I borrowed from our bedroom sit on the mantel.
Those strings of hearts turned out to be much more of a challenge than I thought they would be.  I hung them from fishing line - but they kept twisting and turning.  So I ended up cutting some narrow strips of acetate and ran those down the back.  Luckily you don't really notice the acetate and it doesn't show at all in the photos.
I hope you enjoyed my version of a romantic table for two!
