Cinco de Mayo Tablescape CoronaRita Style!

We are going to be celebrating Cinco de Mayo CoronaRita Style this year!
I felt it was unfortunate that one of my favorite beverages has had an identity crisis through out this pandemic - so I decided to celebrate it in fine style.
One of these small bottles of Corona is called a Coronita, they are just 7 ounce Corona beers,
and when they are turned upside down in a margarita - they make  CoronaRitas!
It just seems fitting to celebrate Cinco de Mayo this year this way.
Since the only shopping I have been doing is at the grocery store - all of my centerpiece was from my last trip to the grocery store.
They had just a few of these small potted Zinnia plants.  I paired them up with a selection from the fresh veggie section and threw in a few avocados for good measure.
A colorful selection of dishes makes nacho chips look very festive.
We are all just making due with what we have these days, but nothing says you still can't have a little fun!
Even though some of the restrictions are beginning to be lifted, we should all proceed with caution and continue our physical distancing as much as possible and Please, be considerate and wear a mask in public places.  You may just be saving someone's life.

These are difficult times, but I hope you are able to stay up beat and find ways to still enjoy life as we know it now and hopefully things will continue to improve.
Stay safe and healthy.

Celebrating Cinco de Mayo!

I always enjoy setting a Cinco de Mayo table because of the chance to play with so much color.
I have had several different Cinco de Mayo tables featuring peppers over the years!  So I decided on going with fruit this year.
My centerpiece consists of clay pots,  faux cactus,  faux flowers but honest to goodness real fruit!

After trying to stack up every colorful combination of plates, I finally decided to just use my Dollar Tree plates from years ago.
I found these napkins and place mats in the clearance section at Pier 1 a couple of years ago - I used these same place mats last year.
I know most Cinco de Mayo tables have margarita's on them - but we are kind of into tasting different beers right now.  We have had several new micro breweries pop up around us and we enjoy sampling all the craft beer.
Whether you are celebrating Cinco de Mayo or the Kentucky Derby this year -
it's going to be an eventful weekend.
I hope you get the chance to enjoy some of the fun!

Thanks for stopping by!
Ann

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!

I love celebrating Cinco de Mayo!
I love the colors and the food that Cinco de Mayo brings.
I realize that this holiday is probably celebrated more by people who are not of Mexican heritage than those that are, but I guess that is why I feel comfortable celebrating it.
I don't usually like working with bright bold colors, but for this occasion I pull out all the stops.
I see that I messed up my forks in this photo!!
Some days you think you have it all together, then you notice that the flatware is all crooked,
that was before I had any margaritas!

If you like these bright colors - you may like some of my past Cinco de Mayo Tables:

I have this sudden craving for chips and salsa!
I hope you have fun celebrating too.

Thanks for stoping by,
Ann

Cinco de Mayo Table- Hot Centerpiece!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!  Let's have some fun!
Time for some intense color.
Speaking of intense, I decided to turn up the heat a bit on the centerpiece.
With heat from my sun and many peppers
This was one of the easiest and cheapest centerpieces I have ever made.  I cut the sun shape out of a piece of gold card stock using my Silhouette and just glued it to a bamboo skewer.  While I was at the grocery store I found this little bag of mini sweet peppers for $3.56 , much cheaper and more fun than any flowers I could find.
So I skewered up my mini peppers and used some small ferns I had as filler.  I rarely have any florist oasis - so I usually resort to a Styrofoam cup.  It worked perfectly fitting down in side my pitcher to hold all of the pepper skewers
This all made for a hot looking centerpiece that is easy, inexpensive and edible!
(Well at least the peppers and the mangoes)
Now we just needed a beverage to cool us off.  As you may have noticed in the past - I pick my beverages - not necessarily by taste - but by color to go with the table.  My guys will test out the beverages and let me know if they are any good,
So adios for now, I hope you all have a festive Cinco de Mayo.

Cinco de Mayo - Fun and Color

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!
We are celebrating another holiday that we really have no place celebrating, but we are along for the fun!

I just love the colors!

As you can probably tell, I pulled every bright colored dish I had out of the cupboard and put it them on my hutch!
I made the paper Mexican fiesta flag bunting on my Silhouette and just strung it up with some orange hemp twine.

Now don't get all excited about the fact that my paper flags are hanging directly over my candles, because if you notice - most of my candles are never actually lit!!  I think I have mentioned before that my dad was a fireman and strictly prohibited candles being burnt in our house growing up.  So as most dad's have instilled a certain kind of fear in us, I don't usually burn my candles.
Nothing says Fiesta more than adding some rick rack to some plain napkins!  That is like a party in my napkin drawer!

So Ole!  Hoping you can put some color and fun into your days!
