Nautical Tablescape

Summer is in full swing here at our little lake.  Boating, water skiing, fishing, and pontooning are a big part of our social life, so this nautical themed table is appropriate for a little gathering before going out on the lake.
Although, because there is no horse power limit on the boat motors, we see very few sail boats on our lake.  Occasionally in the middle of the week when it is real quiet, you will see someone out sailing.
I filled my sailboat with some different varieties of hydrangeas.
I am not much of a gardener!  My hydrangeas just don't look as big and gorgeous as everyone else out there in blog land!  I just live vicariously through the ladies who post on Floral Fridays!
My husband will not allow me to decorate our lake house with any "sea" items.
So no mermaids, no seahorses, no shells, no sand dollars, no lobsters - you get the idea!!
Anchors are allowed!  Even though these are not the type of anchors we use -the nice guy that he is-  let this slide.
I chose these blue dyed napkins and a knotted rope napkin ring to top of the dish stack.
This sailboat is from Pier 1 Imports, it is sold as a fruit basket.  I picked it up as soon as they marked it down.
A few nautical accents scattered about the blue striped table cloth join the sailboat.  These cute little buoy candles were left over way past summer at Joann Fabrics last year so I got them for mere pennies.
I am a fair skinned, freckled red head.  For years I had one wish - that was to get my shins tan. Well, I can tell you, my wish came true!  My shins are finally tan!
When it gets up in the 90's - you know were to find me-
I will be out by the lake with at least my toes in the water or floating on some sort of watercraft.
I hope you stay cool this summer!

Thanks for stopping by!
Ann

In the past few years my interests have grown from fabric to paper and now to dishes too! I just love prints, polkadots, plaids and paisleys- hence the blog name.

  1. Your table floats my boat Ann! I love your nautical theme and all your wonderful sea-worthy details of your table and your serene blue and white stripes and palette. Your sailboat filled with hydrangea blooms is the perfect centerpiece (I missed that at Pier 1!). We see some sailboats on our lake and usually more so during the week when its not as busy. Yesterday the heat index was 100 and lake water temperature was 82 degrees. Stay cool and enjoy your lake time. ♥

  2. Ann, I LOVE your tablescape! Everything looks so good in those beautiful blues and whites. They're more sunbleached in tone, which I like so much. Perfect details, and your blooms are as good as any out there!
ps my skin tone is like yours, and it was my trip to the Caribbean that always gets my skin tan (even with sunscreen, so close to the equator, I suppose). Now it's like a sponge, soaking up the rays, even with just as little as an hour of gardening.

  3. What Rita said --- LOVE your table and the centerpiece in particularly, but also the plate layering. Pinned, and pinned and pinned.

  4. That sailboat is wonderful. I haven't seen any quite like that. We have a motorized boat (I'm so NOT a boat person, I don't even know what you would call it, lol!), but sailboats are so much more romantic. I'd gladly have dinner at your table.

  5. No mermaids or sea shells??? I would die! I'm lucky that my husband let's me do anything I want decor wise and doesn't bat an eye when I have kooky projects going on :) Anyway, I am crazy about this table, so much fun going on! The sailboat hydrangea basket is wonderful! Love the buoy candles and the nautical knots! The napkins are super cute! I always love your tables, Ann!

    1. I agree that this tablescape is just perfect! I love everything about it. I bought this sailboat fruit holder, too, and you have given me the perfect idea of how to use it. I have to agree with you, however, that I couldn't make it if my husband told me I couldn't have seashells or mermaids. I decided to decorate my sunroom with a beach them this year and have it covered up with containers of shells and at least one mermaid in a lantern. Thank goodness my other half doesn't have anything to say about my decorating.

  6. Oh Ann I do love this! I have a guest room decorated with a kind of up north cabin/lake vibe and I worked to not have items more associated with the sea but I do have some accessories for tablescaping that cross the line! The sailboat piece is wonderful and putting the hydrangeas in it was brilliant! Love love the plate stack and how you arranged each piece. Enjoy your lake time- I know it’s fun!!
We have so many lakes around our area. Some are more for fishing and some are more popular for speed boats. Grand Traverse Bay often has a mix of both sailboats and powerboats but there’s a lot of room there for everyone! You’e Inspired me to get out my “nautical box” of goodies and put a table together!

  7. Love your table, Ann. We are boaters on Kentucky Lake so I always enjoy a nautical table. Great centerpiece with your sailboat and hydrangeas. I saw a sailboat on the lake last weekend but not every time we are out. We went out last weekend but too many things to do this weekend to get out.

  11. This is an absolutely gorgeous table and so well coordinated. I adore nautical. Love love love the dinner, salad, and appy plates. Who would not want to enjoy a lovely summer meal here - nobody I know... I have those chargers too - they seem to go with many table settings. Enjoy summer 2019 - the table will look just as great this year as it did last year!
