Thanksgiving Table

I have set a very masculine Thanksgiving table this year.
I had always felt that Thanksgiving was a holiday more for the men in our family than the women. That is why I chose these grey and wood tones for my table.

I am joining a wonderful group of bloggers for a Thanksgiving Tablescape  Blog Hop going on all week. All the links for 20 different Thanksgiving Tables for inspiration are near the bottom of this post.  Thank you to Chloe Crabtree from Celebrate & Decorate for putting this Hop together.
When I was growing up, it was always the women running around doing all the workand the men where in the other room watching football until all the food is ready.  Then they ate and drank and return to the other room to watch more football, and the women were to clean up all the dishes.

I won't be hosting our actual Thanksgiving dinner, we will be going to my sister's house for dinner.  But I like that my boys lend a hand in setting the table and serving the food these days.
We enjoy much more conversation around the table now then when I was growing up. And I am proud to say that all the husbands and sons now pitch in to clean up all the dishes. I think that this is more of how we should be giving thanks- by working together and enjoying each other's company!

Speaking of enjoying others-

I like the changes that have taken place, Thanksgiving seems much more enjoyable now.
I have a lot to be thankful for and feel very blessed to have a wonderful family
and many great friends.
Oh! and many, many dishes!

In the past few years my interests have grown from fabric to paper and now to dishes too! I just love prints, polkadots, plaids and paisleys- hence the blog name.

  1. Just beautiful Ann! Your table is perfect for both sexes and I love how you married the wood tones of your pumpkins, acorns and flatware with the gray tones and silvery metallics of the leaves and mercury glasses candleholders. The plate rims have a wonderful texture and pattern without interfering with your food! Amen to husbands and sons pitching in to clean up these days instead of just watching football in the other room. I’m thankful to be joining you for this blog hop. ♥

  2. Ann, you had my attention with your description of your table. I always enjoy a mix of masculine/feminine in design, and I really like what you've done. The napkins and placemats give it enough cozy, feminine twist while the color palette keeps it toned down on the masculine side. The metallics immediately had me thinking of frost on the ground, so typical this time of year. Very nice table.

  3. Love your textures from the gorgeous etched crystal goblets( I have a penchant for etched glassware) to the wooden handles of the flatware and napkin rings as well the the ribbed placemats and fringed napkins. Then your centerpiece and plate stack is chocked full of metallic textures that pull your theme and design together. Great job with photos too!
    Happy Thanksgiving, Ann!

  4. I love the grays, woods, and masculine feel Ann, it's just lovely! I am chuckling at your memories, I remember my father proudly carving the turkey, but he never did much cleaning up! Times have definitely changed [thank goodness] and the men are much more involved. My son will be doing most of the cooking this year, I'm going to relax! I know you will enjoy being a guest at your sister's house, but I hope you will enjoy this beautiful table setting sometime in the next few weeks, it's beautiful!

  6. Hi Ann and Happy thanksgiving to you and your family. You have captured the hearts of many "guys" with the pretty grays and metallics of your tablescape. I personally love the planning and preparing of the feast and through the years, my guys have made it a tradition to clean it all up at the end of the meal. Perhaps it is because I am such a sports fan that we share in all the duties....but whatever the reason, it works. These blog hops are so much fun as we see the different designs and tastes of our fellow bloggers, and if we don't take at least one or two bits of inspiration from them, then we are not looking. LOL

  7. What a lovely color combo for your table! You created a beautiful yet handsome look! I have the same memories about Thanksgiving regarding the men vs. women and their rolls. I’m grateful that my son is great in the kitchen and will pitch in. Wishing you a blessed Thanksgiving with your family!

  10. Ann, seeing your table gave me an entirely new perspective on using grey pumpkins! I thought it was a striking tablescape --- and especially loved the silver/grey acorns. Pinned and pinned! I am also blessed to have a husband and two adult sons you always help in the kitchen and with cleanup. In fact, I have family bragging rights (on both sides) for the most helpful spouse and kids every Thanksgiving. It helps my guys like to either bake or cook too.

  11. Ann, I love how you mixed the wood tones with the grays and your use of non-traditional colors. You have created the perfect balance for a masculine/feminine Tablescape and it is beautiful. My hubby is a big help in prep and clean up, it is so helpful. It is a pleasure to blog hop with you!

  13. I love a gender neutral table and this color combo is fabulous. It's so nice to have the guys help out. That way we can all rest and get ready for seconds or that late night turkey sandwich. Happy Thanksgiving and I look forward to our next hop.

  17. Ann, I was intrigued by your table setting. I love the elegance and the use of gray plates and accessories had me thinking of gray business suits, particularly the pin-striped napkins. The etched glassware is beautifully detailed. The pewter (?) acorns and leaf centerpiece is gorgeous! Have you had it a long time?

    1. Sandra, those pewter leaves and acorns are just 4 big floral picks! Those are one of the few things I did buy new this year for this table. I found them at a local gift shop, they had them stuck in a Christmas tree, as Christmas decorations, when I pulled them out and saw how gorgeous they were by themselves, I thought they would look good with the wood pumpkins I bought several years ago with the silver stems. Sorry I removed the tags from them so I don't know the manufacturer- they were only $7.99 a piece- which I thought was pretty good considering how big they are.
